Ty Murray Inventational PBR from Albuquerque, NM

Well the first night of the Ty Murray Invitational is now in the books. This three day event takes the first day to showcase the other great athletes of the PBR. The great American Bucking Bull! With the ABBI bringing in the classic bulls for the show, it proved to be a show stopper!

Led by Julio Moreno's T11 Troubadour who scored a whopping 90.5, the bulls only had a 15 hitter! More than 2/3Rd's of all riders hit the ground! While many riders were late arriving in Albuquerque because of Tornado's in the Dallas Ft. Worth area. There were plenty of young local riders who tried to put their skills to the test against these great young four legged superstars.

Not all riders faired so poorly though. McKennon Wimberly led most of the round with an early 86.75 on Razzle Dazzle until changes in the leader board came in rapid succession at the end of the night. First Scott Schiffner from Strathmore, AB, CN took the lead with an 87.5 only to watch it disappear a few rides later when Kasey Hayes of Liberal, KS took over with an 89.25 only to watch it disappear on the next ride when Kody Lostroh of neighboring Colorado spurred out an 89.5

While a whole lot of people see this as a positive, I have to wonder about selling off to some dude from 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Suite 4200 New York, NY 10112. Clean your computer up

Lately I've been asked by numerous people about systems running slower than usual. So I'm writing this to help people streamline their systems.
First and foremost make sure your system has the latest virus scan on it. In McAfee and Norton the updated files are called definitions. Unfortunately a slow system is one of the first signs of a virus! So the first goal is to insure that we do not have a virus!
Next, I would make an effort to clean up all of the temporary files. There will be a whole lot of these files but they all have one thing in common, they will end in either a "*.tmp" or a "*.temp" file extension. If they do not have one of these file extensions, then do not delete them, YET!
To delete these files there are two easy ways. The first way is to go into the My Computer interface and right click on the "C" drive. Once you have done that you should have a new window that says "Local Disk (C :) Properties and has what looks like a little pie graph in the lower middle. Below that graph you should have a button that says "Disk Cleanup." So go ahead and click on the "Disk Cleanup" button. Now this may take a while so do be patient.
Now you should have another pop up window that says "Disk Cleanup for (C :)." Read this list carefully, but you pretty much want to delete anything that says "temporary files" in the name. Once you've selected these files go ahead and hit the "Ok" button. At the next prompt hit the "yes" button and wait a few minutes. So now part two is done and we're on to part three and the second part of cleaning the Temp files up.
Now click on the start button and then click on search. Click on "All files and folders," on the left hand side of the window. In the search All or part of the file name line type in *.tmp and then select drive "c" then hit search. In the list to the right click on the first file, hold down shift and click on the last file, they should all now be highlighted! Hit delete!
When you’re finished here right click on the recycle bin on your desk top and click on Empty Recycle Bin. The repeat changing the *.tmp to *.temp!
Wahoo now you're almost 1/2 way done!
Next right click on the "C" drive in my computer again and click on properties. Now click on the Tools Tab. From here click on the "Check Now" button on the next screen check both boxes and click start! Click "Yes" on the pop-up, you can only run this when you reboot! But you need to get it ready now.
Last task until reboot! From the same window we just worked in click the "Defragment Now" button. Click on the (C :) under the volume label and click defragment! It might take a while!
When this is done run the same tool on all hard drives! Now you’re down to one last task.
So are you ready for lunch or supper? Great, me too! So now click on "Start," "Shutdown" and then restart. Yep do a proper restart of your system. Now it should seem a little faster. If you will at least do the "Defrag" once a month and this whole list twice a year your system should run fairly clean.
A couple of more hints for you. 1) Get good spyware preventer, I use Spybot. They are somewhat free but ask for donations, I donated $20.00 per PC. Hey it's worth it! 2) Get good Ad-Ware Prevention software. 3) Use a good pop blocker! And 4) when you feel brave enough delete all of the OLD programs that you will never ever use!
Good luck!

Does Your Association Do This?

The New Mexico Rodeo Association, while not the largest Rodeo Association takes pride in who and what they are. While not perfect (who is?!), they strive to bring the best to the table for all of their cowboys and cowgirls. To that extent and once again they will be having a judging seminar to better the quality of the rodeo officials!

The seminar is open to all who would like to be a NMRA judge and will start at 8am Saturday, March 17th, 2007. Travis Howe, a respected and veteran PRCA judge will be the guest instructor. Even if you do not care to judge, this can be a great learning expereince when it comes to learning rodeo. I will show up after shooting a ballon launch and before I go to the Baca Rough Stock Rodeo.

For more information check out the website linked to the title or drop me an email. Hope to see you there!

Rodeo Gets Positive Press

Here is a Television News Article found on CNBC/MSN about the positive financial impact Rodeo can have on a local economy and the brand loyality we are known for.

Yes like everyone else I try to stay loyal to the brands that support us. But when treated in a negative way I am unaffraid to skip to something better.

The Times, They Are a Changing

Don't forget we will be making the jump ahead on the Daylight Savings clocks a little earlier this year. Yeah, like this Sunday March 11th. And while your home clocks may be no big deal, your computer sure will be. I strongly suggest that EVERYONE go to the linked Microsoft site and upgrade you Windows PC's. Most others are runing patches for this change as well!

Open note to the Cowboy Sports Agents INC

The Association of Professional Rodeo Photographers has been trying to reach an agreement with the Professional Bull Riders Inc. to cover their smaller events. The agreement in general states that we can ask for permission to cover the smaller PBR events and in return we can offer limited (non-commercial) sales to the cowboys, contractors and bullfighters, while all other sales would have to flow through the PBR itself.

While I'm not a 100% fan of the agreement because I do not think it goes far enough to protect MY rights as a photographer, I voted for it reluctantly, because much more experienced rodeo photographers thought it would be a good deal in the long run. But now there has been another twist to this story.

Mark Nestlen, of Cowboy Sports Agents, does not want us shooting any picture of any cowboy unless we send him the same information as we send the PBR and I'm sure from reading some of his correspondence he will not be happy until he also owns ALL of OUR copyrights.

Mr. Nestlen, I'm sorry sir. I know this will offend you and I know with your history of suing individuals who you are in disagreement with, I may have to hire an attorney. But Mr. Nestlen I can assure you sir. I will never shot a picture of any of your athletes! You nor they are worth it! So when one of them scores a 97 point ride at some itty bitty PBR and there are no photographs on hand what will be your response to the sponsors? If the sponsors or cowboys were to find out that I was the photographer of record my response to them would be quite vulgar! If the PBR ask me I'm sure they will more than understand when I say CSA.

So Mr. Nestlen while you represent some of the biggest named athletes in the PBR. I guess the only thing people will ever see from me and my camera are the COWBOYS of the PBR!

By the way Mr. Nestlen, if I ever send you that information for some stupid reason. Do not be surprised to find a bill in the packet to cover my time and expenses!
